Togbe Agorkoli popularly known as the tyrannical Agorkoli was the legendary ruler of Notsie. During his reign, the Ewe  fled Notsie and settled in their current homelands. He ruled the Ewes with  iron hand. When the Ewe people decided to escape his leadership, they sought out Togbe Tsali. During a festive holiday, it is said that Togbe Tsali  enchanted the drums to put all the royals and Agorkoli to sleep. While escaping, Tsali asked the people to walk backwards, confusing their pursuers.

The ewe people are found in present day Togo and the Southern part of Ghana.
